Shambhala is a magical land that has been ruled by priest-kings for many thousands of years; in fact, the legend of Shambhala predates the introduction of Buddhism into Tibet. Many western explorers, hearing tales of a Golden City of Shambhala, sought to find it in the frozen wastes of northern Tibet. This resulted in the present-day term "Shangri-la".

Although still classed as a rare breed, the Tibetan Mastiff, dates back almost three thousand years, and ranks among the oldest, purest breeds of dog. Used for many centuries to guard Tibetan Monasteries, villages and nomad's flocks, they can be very vocal and will sound off at strangers, making them an ideal guardian/watchdog. Tibetan Mastiff' are definitely strong willed and determined, but they are also even tempered, patient and loving with children and family.

Welcome to Shambhala Tibetan Mastiff!

Tibetan Mastiff Trivia

Tibetans believe that Tibetan Mastiffs have the souls of monks and nuns who were not good enough to be reincarnated into people or into Shambhala (the heavenly realm). -  (Credit: AKC.org)
